Recreate Your Yard as a Garden: How to Make It Happen

We are getting all sorts of fantastic advice on how to make our gardens better—better for us and better for the environment. Experts like Doug Tallamy and Heather Holm, tell us why we need to use more native plants to support our insects and birds. Creative garden designers like Piet Oudolf and Fergus Garrett are designing incredibly beautiful and inspirational gardens that we would all love to emulate in our home gardens. But it’s not always that easy to take what we learn and see and make it happen in our own garden.

Jeff Epping, Director of Horticulture at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, will show you how he has taken many of the ecologically-minded gardening concepts and award winning garden designs from around the country and incorporated them into his own small home garden.

Jeff will show you how he transformed his suburban lot, with its typical bluegrass lawn and mundane foundation plantings into a beautiful, low maintenance, no lawn garden that is teeming with life. Bees, butterflies and toads live harmoniously in a pesticide free refuge, that is also home to a wide range of friendly insects that provide food for the many bird species that nest in or visit his garden. Learn from what he has done to create your own beautiful eco-friendly garden that will inspire others to do the same in your neighborhood.

Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the presentation beings at 7 pm. There will be a Q&A to follow Jeff’s presentation.

FREE Registration is required so we have space for everyone.
